EYE HAND COORDINATION – FIT CLIXX SKILLS
Drop/Catch

  • Begin by placing the drumsticks in the right and left hands.  Hold sticks loosely and approximately at hip level.
  • Practice “Dropping” the right drumstick and catching it again in the right hand.  Repeat this several times before switching to the left side.
  • Practice alternating “Dropping” and “Catching” the drumstick with the right and left hands.
  • Drop & Catch both drumsticks at the same time.
Throw/Catch 

  • Begin by placing the drumsticks in the right and left hands.  Hold sticks loosely and approximately at waist or ribcage level.
  • Carefully throw the right drumstick a few inches up and in front of you.  The drumstick should not be thrown up directly in front of the face.
  • When the drumstick falls to about chest level, catch it with your right hand.  Repeat this several times before switching to the left side.
  • Use very small movements in the beginning before progressing to larger and higher throws.
  • Practice alternating “Throwing ”and “Catching” the drumstick with the right and left hands.
  • Always begin with one drumstick before progressing to using both drumsticks simultaneously.
  • Throw & Catch both drumsticks at the same time.
Flip/Catch One Drumstick

Begin by placing the drumsticks in the right and left hands.  Hold sticks loosely and approximately at waist or ribcage level.

Holding the sticks loosely, toss one stick at a time – carefully- so that it flips and lands tip up in the hand.   Repeat with the other hand.   Once participants are able to do this without a lot of errors try flipping both sticks at the same time.  (Advanced: Flip sticks in opposition)

  • Alternating right and left sides for all skills
  • Utilizing two drumsticks simultaneously for all skills
