Why don’t older adults exercise? (Resnick and Spellbring, 2000)
- Fear of falling
- Impaired health
- Unpleasant sensations associated with exercise (i.e. next day muscle soreness, sweating, etc.)
- Lack of knowledge about exercise and its health benefits
- Issues associated with aging
Ironically, the reasons why older adults don’t exercise are precisely why they SHOULD exercise!
